What can I expect from a treatment?

Each treatment begins with a comprehensive consultation to discuss your key concerns and gather a complete picture of your health. Fine, sterile needles are gently inserted and typically remain in place for about 20 minutes while you relax.

Each person responds in their own way to treatment. Some people experience a deep sense of relaxation, while others may notice physical sensations such as tingling, warmth, or a gentle ache as the body’s Qi (energy) is activated. Treatment is individual and usually requires a series of sessions and this varies greatly with each individual and condition.

A typical session lasts around an hour. Afterwards, you may feel slightly ‘spacey’ this is fine and normally a sign of a good treatment. However if you feel your reactions may be impaired you should delay driving.

What should I wear for a treatment?

The intention is to make you feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible, always ensuring privacy and dignity. Light, loose clothing is preferable. You will not usually be asked to remove clothing, unless the treatment requires. If suffering with neck or shoulder pain, it is useful to have long hair tied back.

I'm scared of needles - Can I have acupuncture?

Yes. Acupuncture needles are much finer than the needles used for injections and blood tests. You may not even feel them penetrate the skin and once in place they are hardly noticeable.

Is acupuncture safe?

Yes. Acupuncture is considered very safe when carried out by a qualified practitioner. I am qualified, insured, and adhere to rigorous hygiene and safety protocols with every treatment. Each needle is sterile, single-use, and properly disposed of after use.
